Coke, wine offered as championship memorabilia
The Gamecock baseball team players have drank up glory after winning the National Championship two years in a row.
Now fans can quench their own thirst by drinking from commemorative Coca-Cola bottles or a signature head coach Ray Tanner wine bottle.
The 6-packs of Coca-Cola went on sale exclusively to USC students in the Grand Market Place Wednesday and will be available for the public to purchase today, according to Carolina Dining Services. There are only 5,000 cases of the glass bottles, which have the South Carolina Back-to-Back Championship logo on them, in Columbia. The first 5,000 fans at today’s game will receive a coupon for one free bottle.
Fans who are over the age of 21 and want to consume an adult beverage in honor of the baseball team’s head coach, can opt for a bottle of 2010 or 2011 Ray Tanner seriesp wine. The wine comes with two different labels honoring the coach and baseball team.
“We feel like Coach Tanner is the true toast of the town,” Director of Golf Puggy Blackmon said at Tanner’s press conference Thursday.
Proceeds will be split between the baseball team and golf programs.
Southern Wine and Spirits of South Carolina is distributing the wine, which will be available April 1 at wine retailers across South Carolina.
