Ned Durrett, Sun-Dried Vibes, Atlas Road Crew, others play weekend events
Back-to-back outdoor concerts ushered in the last week of classes with laid-back melodies, foot-shuffling grass-roots ballads and burritos.
Sustainable Carolina officially welcomed the start of Earth Week on Friday with Earthstock on the Green Quad terrace. The four-hour Earth party featured music from student bands Atlas Road Crew, Sun-Dried Vibes and Ned Durrett and the Kindly Gents, and is the first in a series of sustainable events leading up to Earth Day on April 22.
WUSC hosted Part 2 of the “Folkcycle Fest” they started in the fall at the Burrito Bugaloo at El Burrito in Five Points Saturday. About 250 people stopped by the station’s fundraiser concert, featuring a string of local bands from The Choir Quit to Latenights, a few comedy acts, tex-mex fare and a unicycle raffle.
