Leading UGA receiver to miss remainder of season
The Georgia offense took a major hit when redshirt sophomore Michael Bennett, the team's leading wide receiver, was diagnosed with a torn ACL following Tuesday’s practice. According to a release, Bennett will undergo reconstructive surgery, but it has not yet been determined when. He will miss the rest of the season.
“It’s very sad that it happened to him on the very last play of practice [Tuesday] ... He was engaged in a block, just working,” Georgia coach Mark Richt said in a release. “No one ran into him or anything like that. His knee buckled, and there it was.”
Richt said the Bulldogs would give more offensive reps to sophomore Malcolm Mitchell, who also played cornerback earlier this season.
