College GameDay our chance to shine

USC will once again be in the spotlight of the nation, as it hosts ESPN’s College GameDay on the Horseshoe before the Georgia game Saturday.

The matchup is one of the biggest of the season, and the fact that ESPN will be on campus is definitely something to get riled up for. We hope to see students of every year and major on the Horseshoe this Saturday with faces painted and handmade signs held high to remind the nation that we are a university worth getting excited about.

But it’s important to remember in the midst of our celebrations that, especially in front of a national audience, we need to represent our university well. USC’s new marketing campaign might be based on the slogan “No Limits,” but as students, we need to bear in mind that some of our most recently filmed occasions include a raucous pool party and an “I’m Shmacked” video. So while it’s great to have fun, we should remember that there are, in fact, limits, and how we behave in public reflects heavily on all of us.

This is our chance to show everyone what our university and its students are made of, and marry our intense Gamecock spirit with class and the values of our Carolina Creed. It’s our chance to show everyone that we are a university of passionate, diverse individuals who believe in our school and our team.

And a message to Lee Corso — you had Bama two years ago. Remember how that turned out? Pick wisely.
