If Twitter can be trusted — we’re looking at you, Salty Nut — Darius Rucker will join ESPN’s College GameDay broadcast on the Horseshoe Saturday morning.
The country star, former Hootie and the Blowfish singer and USC graduate tweeted Monday afternoon that he’d been invited to be the show’s customary guest picker: “Just got the invite to be guest picker on College Gameday. So excited. Love that show. Go Cocks”
Per tradition, each week, one local celebrity from the college town where the show’s being held is invited to join the analysts in predicting the winners of the week’s top matchups.
The show starts at 9 a.m. and will be broadcast on ESPNU until 10 a.m., when it moves to ESPN. The game pits No. 6 South Carolina against Southeastern Conference rival No. 5 Georgia and kickoff is at 7 p.m.
As for who Rucker will pick to win at Williams-Brice, a subsequent tweet might give us some insight. Responding to someone who accused him of once wearing a Bulldogs hat, Rucker tweeted three words:
“NEVER EVER EVER.”
