Former running back asks for forgiveness
Former Gamecocks running back Kenny Miles shot himself in the forearm in an Irmo office park last week, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said Tuesday. Miles will be charged with filing a false police report and could face jail time or a large fine.
Miles originally told sheriff’s deputies he was shot by an unknown white man in an armed robbery. Later that week, Lott announced that had not been the case.
Miles issued an apology Monday afternoon through his lawyer. He called the incident a “mistake” and said he was sorry for not telling the truth initially.
Neither Lott nor Miles would go into detail about how the shooting happened. Miles specified he was not involved in any criminal activity.
