The Gamecock football team slipped down from last week’s No. 21 spot in both polls, with a No. 24 ranking in the most recent AP poll and a No. 23 ranking in the coaches’ poll.
The reason for the slip is due in part to No. 17/19 Virginia Tech launching into the top-25 after a huge victory over Ohio State, who fell to No. 22/18 in the polls. Oregon hopped Alabama for No. 2 in the AP poll but remain at No. 4 in the coaches’ poll.
There are five SEC teams in the top-10, with Alabama at No. 3/2, and in the AP poll, Auburn ranked fifth and Georgia ranked sixth. Texas A&M continues to look strong at No. 7/8, and LSU moved up to No. 10/9 after the second week of action.
