Redshirt junior quarterback Connor Mitch announced Thursday that he will be leaving the University of South Carolina. He will attend another university next fall in hopes of continuing his football career after he graduates with a degree in psychology from South Carolina in August.

"I have enjoyed my time at South Carolina and will graduate later this summer," Mitch said. "I believe it's in my best interest to continue my playing career at another school. I'd like to thank all the Gamecock fans for their support during my time in Columbia."

Mitch was a four-star quarterback from Raleigh, North Carolina, who was recruited by Steve Spurrier. In high school, he was second only to former Florida quarterback Chris Leak in career passing yards in the state of North Carolina.

As a Gamecock, Mitch started in the first two games of the 2015 season before getting sidelined by injuries. He only racked up 165 yards and a touchdown through the air in those starts.

He was one of three quarterbacks on the roster with a win.
