IRIS celebrated National Coming Out Day by setting up a tent on Greene Street on Tuesday.
The organization, which works throughout campus to promote acceptance and inclusion of all sexualities, offered the latest issue of Garnet and Black magazine, sexual health supplies, a foam closet to ‘come out’ of and a National Coming Out Day rainbow banner to paint.
Kaitlin McClamrock, a third-year political science student and the president of IRIS, emphasized the importance of National Coming Out Day for the LGBTQ community. She also noted that the this year's celebration falls on the day of the week IRIS meets, providing an opportunity to further the conversation on campus, exchange coming out stories and celebrate the day together.
