The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the Richland County Coroner's Office are investigating a student's death at Honors Residence Hall, according to a Carolina Alert sent to students Sunday morning.

“SLED is assisting university police in the investigation," Tommy Crosby, SLED's public information officer, said in a phone interview. "No other information is available as this is an active investigation, but once releasable information is obtained, we’ll be glad to be sure to provide you what we can.”

University spokesperson Jeff Stensland, who confirmed that a student died, said more information could be shared once the student's family has been notified.

The coroner’s office has no information at this time, according to Richland County coroner Gary Watts.

According to the Carolina Alert, foul play is not suspected.
