The South Carolina women's basketball team announced Tuesday morning that freshman guard Raven Johnson will miss the remainder of the season with a left knee injury.

Johnson injured her knee in the first quarter of South Carolina's 72-41 win over South Dakota on Nov. 12.

South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley told Gamecocks Online that she's heartbroken for Johnson.

"Everyone could see what she added to our basketball team this year, and a lot of that are the intangibles that will also guide her through the recovery process," Staley said. "Her tenacity and competitiveness will be put to use in a different way than she had planned this year, but they will sustain her, as will the support of her teammates and our coaching and medical staffs."

Johnson was ranked second in the country among the 2021 recruiting class and was part of South Carolina's No. 1 signing class in 2021. She was also the Naismith and WBCA High School Player of the Year.

Through the first two games of the season, Johnson played nine total minutes off the bench.
