The University of South Carolina board of trustees met on Friday to approve a six-year extension to head men's basketball coach Lamont Paris' contract.
The restructured deal, which includes a pay raise, will keep Paris on the Gamecocks' staff until the 2029-30 season.
Paris will also earn an increased salary with his new contract, which will pay him $26.25 million total over the course of the deal. Paris is set to make $3.75 million in the first year of the deal, and his salary will increase $250,000 each season until he earns $5 million in 2030.
His base salary under his previous contract started at $2.2 million during his first season and increased by $100,000 each year until 2027, when he would earn $2.6 million.
Paris' contract extension and pay raise come after the second-year coach helped lead South Carolina to 25 regular season wins — the most in program history. The Gamecocks were also ranked in the Associated Press poll for the first time since 2017 this season.
Paris was recently named SEC Coach of the Year by both the conference and the Associated Press after turning around a South Carolina team that finished the 2022-23 season with a 11-21 record (including 4-14 against conference opponents).
