Courtney Tkacs will become the next student body president, Elections Commissioner Sean Deuty announced on Wednesday. Additionally, her running mate Jordan Richardson will become the next student body vice president.
The student body president and vice president results were delayed due to fraud allegations.
Tkacs ran against candidates David Henao and Bradley Gittens. Richardson ran against Emma Connelly.
Tkacs, third-year political science and public health student, serves as the student body vice president for the 2024-25 academic year. Her campaign with Richardson, second-year mass communications student, is focused on three priorities, including “quality academics and advising, space and the student experience,” Tkacs said.
"Above all, the one thing I campaigned on, I swear will happen this entire year, is making sure that students are prioritized in the administration," Tkacs said.
Tkacs is excited to build upon previous things that she's worked on, including advising and Wi-Fi, she said. She also wants to start new programs with parking and transportation to decrease the issues on campus.
Richardson has similar goals and wants to meet the student body's needs. He said that he wants to know what students are looking for on campus and at the university to best serve them.
"I'm really excited to work along with Courtney this year," Richardson said. "It's been amazing working with her and working on our initiatives together to present to the student body. And they obviously chose us for a reason."
The inauguration details have yet to be announced.
