Sarah Rumely Noble was hired as the head coach for the Gamecock women's volleyball team. Rumely Noble replaces Tom Mendoza, who coached the Gamecocks for seven seasons and left on March 2 to coach at Marquette University.

Rumely Noble agreed to a five year contract where she will earn $260,000 in her first and second year, $275,000 in her third and fourth year and $285,000 in her final year, according to the board of trustees.

Rumely Noble previously coached for three years as head coach at Appalachian State, five years as an assistant coach at LSU and two years as the recruiting coordinator for the Arkansas Razorbacks.

During her time at Appalachian State, the Mountaineers went from averaging seven wins to averaging 17 wins a season. During her time with the Tigers, Rumely Noble helped recruit three top 20 nationally ranked classes and 67 wins during her time as an assistant coach.

Rumley Noble also played in the SEC at the University of Kentucky from 2006-09 and was recently inducted in the Kentucky Hall of Fame on Sept. 22.  She was a two-time All-SEC selection, Academic All-American and currently remains the career leader in assists and aces.

She was also named the SEC Freshman of the Year in 2006 and the SEC Player of the Year in 2008 as she led the Wildcats to four NCAA Tournament berths, including an appearance in the Sweet Sixteen.
