The No. 6 Gamecock baseball team split its series against the No. 1 LSU Tigers on April 6 and April 7, 2023. The planned three-game series was cut one game short due to inclement weather.
South Carolina took the series against the No. 11 Florida Gators at Beckham Field on April 2, 2023. The Gamecocks started the series with a 13-10 victory on Friday and suffered a 8-1 loss on Saturday. Senior pitcher Donnie Gobourne pitched a one-hit shutout and led the Gamecocks to a 3-0 victory on Sunday to wrap up the weekend with an SEC series win.
The Women’s 2023 Final Four game saw an intense matchup between the University of South Carolina Gamecocks and the University of Iowa at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, on March 31, 2023. Iowa held the lead throughout the majority of the game. In the end, the Gamecocks lost against the Hawkeyes 77-73, snapping its 42 win streak.
Colonial Life Arena was filled to almost maximum capacity for the Eagles concert on March 30, 2023. This is one of many stops on the band's "Hotel California" 2023 Tour. The tour features it's complete "Hotel California" album along with many of its most popular hits, including its cover of the Steve Young song "Seven Bridges Road," "Desperado" and "Tequila Sunrise." The band has gone through many member changes throughout the years, with drummer and vocalist Don Henley being the last remaining original member on tour. Joining Henley is guitarist Vince Gill, bassist Timothy B. Schmit, guitarist Joe Walsh and guitarist Stueart Smith. The Eagles' next show will be at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tennessee, on April 1, 2023.
The South Carolina women's basketball team advanced to the Final Four after winning the NCAA Regional Championship at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, S.C. on March 27, 2023. South Carolina defeated Maryland 86-75.
South Carolina took on UCLA at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina, on March 25, 2023. The Gamecocks struggled in the beginning, only scoring 32% of its shots in the first quarter. With some strong plays from senior guard Brea Beal, senior forward Aliyah Boston and junior center Kamilla Cardoso, the Gamecocks gained momentum. South Carolina beat the Bruins 59-43 and will progress to the Elite Eight tournament in Greenville, South Carolina, on March 27, 2023, to take on the University of Maryland.

As a tribute to Women’s History Month, Rock on the Dock highlighted two female artists, third-year music industry studies student Julia Clark and fourth-year music industry studies student Hope Wilberger, in Women on the Dock. ROTD productions started two to three years ago and has grown considerably since then. Each month, they have USC students come out and to perform and share their talents with the college community.
The Gamecock women's basketball team defeated the South Florida Bulls 76-45 in the second round of the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament at Colonial Life Arena on March 19, 2023. The Gamecocks advanced to the Sweet 16 set to take place from March 24 to 25 in Greenville, S.C.
The South Carolina women's tennis team defeated Kentucky in its match on March 17, 2023. With the 4-3 win, the Gamecocks improve its season record to 7-6.
South Carolina held a doubleheader in a three-game series against LSU on Monday, March 13, 2023. The Gamecocks beat the Tigers 4-2 in the first game of the day, but the Tigers came back in the second match, beating them 5-1 due to a couple fielding errors during the second half of the game. The Gamecocks lost the series to LSU after only winning one out of three games in the series.
South Carolina and Clemson finished off their three-game series at Founders Park on March 5, 2023. The Gamecocks came up strong with three home runs by the fifth inning from senior infielder Braylen Wimmer, sophomore catcher Talmadge LeCroy and junior outfielder Caleb Denny. The Gamecocks beat the Tigers 7-1, allowing the team to win the series 2-1 and putting it at 11-1 for the season.
The Gamecock men's basketball team ended its regular season by defeating the Georgia Bulldogs 61-55 at Colonial Life Arena on March 4, 2023. South Carolina is 11-20 overall heading into SEC Tournament play next week in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Gamecocks took on Stetson on Feb. 28, 2023, and North Carolina on March 1, 2023. The team lost 4-3 to the Hatters but claimed a 9-1 win over the Tar Heels, giving the Gamecocks a 15-2 record so far this season. The University of South Carolina upheld a winning streak against the University of Pennsylvania during a three-game series starting on Feb. 24, 2023, at Founders Park. The No. 23 Gamecocks started the weekend strong and never looked back, finishing 7-4 on Friday, 1-0 on Saturday and 6-5 on Sunday.

Many students at the University of South Carolina participate in club sports to help alleviate stress from school, work and the extra burdens that come in life. These athletes typically have two two-hour practices a week with a game during the weekend. Gamecock club rugby and women's club volleyball and Gamecocks' club men's lacrosse are some amongst the many clubs where Gamecock athletes can find their teammates to be reliable source when it comes to handling difficult topics.
The Nickelodeon Theatre held an early showing of "Love in the Time of Fentanyl" on Feb. 25, 2023. The documentary created as a segment of PBS 'Indie Lens Pop-Up' docuseries covers Ronnie Grigg and other staff members at an Overdose Prevention Service office in Vancouver, Canada as they work with members of the community dealing with the ever-worsening fentanyl epidemic while showing the human element of those struggling with addiction. The film was followed by a Q&A panel consisting of medical experts and harm reduction specialists from around South Carolina and training on how to properly administer Narcan in case of an overdose.
Music is considered a universal language — not only for entertainment but for therapeutic purposes as well. The service is on the rise and is tailored to everyone, no matter their musical experience. Students in USC’s School of Music’s commercial music ensemble class said they have found comfort in performing and playing music as an outlet for creative therapy.
