Whether it's breaking out of a magic box to kick off a football game, dancing along the sidelines with the cheerleaders or taking fun selfies with students in the stands, Cocky is a staple at all USC sporting events. 

While most of the Carolina community loves the Gamecock mascot, it took some time for Gamecocks nation to love the cartoonish red bird like they do today. Follow along with Cocky's history, from at his official debut in 1980, to the present day.

USC's Department of Theatre and Dance held an outside edition of Shakespearean play "A Midsummer Night's Dream" to a crowd across from Russel House in Columbia, S.C. on Oct. 9, 2022. This comedy consists of five interconnecting plots, connected by the marriage of characters Duke Theseus of Athens and Amazonian Queen Hippolyta.

This comedy consists of five interconnecting plots, connected by the marriage of characters Duke Theseus of Athens and Amazonian Queen Hippolyta. The Dachshunds of Columbia dog-walking group gathered on USC's Horseshoe for a walk from campus to the S.C. Statehouse during one of their many social events this year. The dog walk held on Sept. 17, 2022, saw a variety of small dachshunds walk alongside their owners as the group congregated to socialize and snap pictures of their adorable animals.

S.C. Council on the Holocaust board members Beryl Dakers, Scott Auspelmyer, Dr. Saskia Coenen Snyder and Dr. Doyle Stevick answer questions from the audience during The U.S. and The Holocaust panel on September 14, 2022. The series was directed by 16-time Emmy award-winning director, Ken Burns. 


The alternative indie-rock bands The Band CAMINO and Knox performed at The Senate on Sept. 15, 2022.

Knox, a band based out of Nashville, Tennessee opened the show for The Band CAMINO, who previously played in Columbia in 2018 at New Brooklyn Tavern. 

Lead singer Jeffery Jordan made note of this during his set, saying that the band has gone a far way from performing at the 200 person venue to selling out The Senate with over 1,200 fans in attendance. The band released their first album, "The Band CAMINO" last year, and performed songs from the album for the show, ending the night with "Daphne Blue."

The alternative indie-rock bands The Band CAMINO and Knox performed at The Senate on Sept. 15, 2022. The Carolina Boxing Club practices Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons for a variety of training sessions to prepare members for live-sparring sessions and tournaments taking place later this season.
