Members of the Columbia community and surrounding areas gathered for the 25th annual King Day at the Dome celebration on Jan. 20, 2025. The event began with a prayer service at Zion Baptist Church before participants marched down to the Statehouse to hear from a variety of speakers including United States District Attorney Adair Ford Boroughs, City Councilman Tyler Bailey and keynote speaker Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison. The event was originally formed to protest the waving of the Confederate flag at the Statehouse but continued even after the flag was removed in 2015.

The South Carolina Gamecocks lost to the Illinois Fighting Illini 21-17 in the 2024 Cheez-It Citrus Bowl. The Gamecocks were chosen to face the Fighting Illini at Camping World Stadium on Dec. 31, 2024 after finishing the season 9-3 and barely missing the College Football Playoffs. South Carolina will end its season 9-4, with head coach Shane Beamer hopeful for the next season.

The Gamecocks were chosen to face the Fighting Illini at Camping World Stadium on Dec. 31, 2024 after finishing the season 9-3 and barely missing the College Football Playoffs. South Carolina will end its season 9-4, with head coach Shane Beamer hopeful for the next season.
South Carolina achieved its 62nd straight home win Thursday night with a victory against No. 8 Duke 81-70. South Carolina had an offensive-heavy night and at one point led by 25 points. Junior forward Chloe Kitts had a standout performance, tying her career-high 21 points and having her third double-double of the season. Players who came off the bench also made an impact with each of them scoring at least 3 points in the matchup. The Gamecocks will now face the Horned Frogs of No. 9 Texas Christian University on Dec. 8, 2024.
