Baseball films highlight diamond drama

Players connect with fans both on screen and in reality When we think of those “great sports movies,” it’s not really football movies that come to mind. Maybe in the last decade or so, with “Remember the Titans” (2000) or “Friday Night Lights” (2004), you could make a claim to the gridiron’s dominance. More often than not, it’s the diamond that holds the drama.

In our opinion: Gamecock baseball benefits school, city

Today is solely about giving thanks to our baseball team. There are so many reasons to say thank you. For more than seven months, this student body has rejoiced in your successes. We’ve bragged about our university to our friends. We’ve worn our garnet and black national title gear almost everywhere.

Ticket Return down Sunday Night

USC officials said student tickets for Friday’s baseball season opener went up online a little before midnight Tuesday. Tickets were supposed to be online Sunday for the game, but a technical glitch caused a problem in the website, said Anna Edwards, USC’s director of student services. The tickets will be available first-come, first-served basis for the opener. Tickets for both Saturday and Sunday’s game are now available as well. Games will follow the normal ticketing procedure for the rest of the season, Edwards said. The person primarily responsible for student ticketing left the university a few weeks ago for another job, Edwards said. The reigning national champions will play Santa Clara in a three-game series. First pitch is at 3 p.m. Friday.
