Welcome to the new dailygamecock.com
By Geoffrey Marsi | Nov. 27, 2010Hello, and welcome to the new online home of the University of South Carolina's student newspaper, the Daily Gamecock. As you may have noticed, the site looks a little different than it has in previous years. That's because the Daily Gamecock has finally made the transition to a fully student-designed and student-run website, to complement the student-designed and student-run newspaper. Over the course of the website's development, we've taken the opportunity to add some new features and expand others. A list of the changes includes: Improved appearance Improved social media integration Article rating and commenting More accessible print edition and photo galleries Archives (coming soon!) Photo stream and wallpapers User accounts Fortunately, the fun doesn't stop there. We have several projects in the works right now, projects that will make the new dailygamecock.com more accessible and interactive than ever. Smartphone apps, a mobile website, QR codes, and section blogs are just a few of the many plans we have for the website. Furthermore, we'd love to hear what you, the readers of the Gamecock, want from your online experience. Drop me a line at tdgwebmaster@gmail.com if you have any ideas or feedback. Speaking of feedback, I could use your help. With any new website launch, there will be a few bugs in the system. We've done our best to stamp them out whenever we find them, but there may be some inconsistencies with the new website. If you find a problem or get an error, please email me at tdgwebmaster@gmail.com, and we'll get right on it. Thanks for reading, and thanks for supporting the Gamecock. Whether you're a long-time reader or a first-time visitor, whether you prefer to read in print or online, whether you're a student, a faculty or staff member, a parent, an alumnus, or none of the above, I hope you enjoy the new dailygamecock.com. Go Cocks! Geoffrey Marsi Webmaster, The Daily Gamecocktdgwebmaster@gmail.com
