The Humanities Collaborative is finding new ways to encourage interdisciplinary research and support the humanities at USC. Last semester, the collaborative was awarded a Mellon grant to sponsor research and support the university's founding documents requirement. President Amiridis said that, despite budget cuts faced at other institutions, USC will remain committed to its liberal arts.
Faculty members within the College of Arts and Sciences are integrating AI concepts into their courses with support from the McCausland Innovation Fund. Some fund recipients said it is important for students to understand AI because of its prominent role in society and ability to cross disciplinary boundaries.
Male faculty have higher average salaries than female faculty at every academic rank at USC. One professor said that the discrepancy is due to systemic bias rather than intentional discrimination.
